I've been frustrating myself to no end with resumes and the lot, but I just took a break to go through the Orlando pictures from lash_larue's camera.

I think Lash has taken what is now my favourite photo of me, ever.

It reminds me of the woman I could grow to be. A little (in stature, and naught else) Grubbly-Sprout figure watching in adoration and awe as an alligator ambles by. Also, yes, it's still Florida despite the suit, I assure you. I just enjoyed dressing up for dinner; that night I wore a rainbow tie for a flair of queer eccentricity.

And as for the gator, zir suit required no embellishing:

I didn't ask for zir permission, but ze didn't seem particularly shy and outwitted a few 'gator wranglers, so I don't think ze would really mind the international fame.

For size comparison, although the tail wasn't up. I watched this beauty until ze was completely around the bend (as I have occasionally been accused of myself).

That's all for this narcissistic post. Alas, back to the grindstone with me. I hate resumes. I hate writing introductory emails, too. Especially to an editor of scientific literature. *shrinks*

ETA: I hope you don't mind my posting these, Lash! If you do I'll gladly take them down and apologise profusely!

I agree! I am a fan of snakes, but once I get into firm venomous snake territory, not so much. :P One of the days I was looking out at the water I'm nearly certain I did see a snake, but it was far out in the lake and ducked under. I was veeeery careful the one time I approached the lake!

Thank you, on the hair-do! I wish I had had something other than scrunchies to tie back my hair--a brown elastic, or something, to "hide my work" as we say in the hair communities. It was actually quite simple! Split hair equally in two, tightly braid both sections, tuck a hairstick horizontally through some of each section, wrap braids around stick in whatever design one likes, and secure hair!

I've actually wanted glasses for a long time. I try not to say it now that it's "fashionable" for people to wear fake glasses...but for me it's not just about the look (although I tend to think they make me look older, which I do like since otherwise I tend to look quite young). It's a security thing. It just feels nice and secure to have something on my eyes, something between my eyes and a viewer, that I don't have when I'm not wearing them. I think that's why I wore sunglasses every day--even inside, often even at night--when I was having a very insecure phase in my early teens. Now I don't need to wear glasses (for the security or for my sight), but I do feel much more comfortable in them. It's odd. Especially since, thus far, I'm the only one in my family who has ended up with 20x20 vision. I'm sure at some point I'll at least need reading glasses, since my mother wears them...
