Today I was reminded of how much I love physical therapists but hate physical therapy.

Evaluations exist as a terrible sadomasochistic test.

Mine came out negative. Conclusion: my leg sucks.

New information? I think not. But we're starting on this treacherous and painful and hopefully successful journey. I would like to be pain-free by the time I'm 25. I would like to not consider myself handicapped by the time I am 25.

The physical therapist listened to my history, watched my movement, grinned, laughed and announced, "you're complex!" in that 'your case is interesting and I am going to be challenged' manner that always arises around me in any sort of medical field.

Here we go again.
Current Mood: pissed offPained.

Oh dear, how awful. Another round of medics. And 'interesting' is one of the worst words in such a case. Like the Chinese curse, "may your children live in interesting times".

All the best!

Another round of medics indeed. I've got another appointment in half an hour: I'm certainly not thrilled. At least I get a break when I'm in England! (Though I have to walk more when I'm there...bit of a toss up, honestly! :P)

Ah, yes, 'complex' has been equally complimentary in my life. I was once told I was a "complex creature" by an old teacher and it was a delight to receive. I don't mind it at all in those situations - and indeed, there I am complex too! (Confounding, sometimes, but that's another issue entirely... :P)

Thank you! I'm hoping I'll get through this with both legs. (;

so you're on rounds of physical therapy sessions huh?what happened to you anyway?
Kiwi Crocuscranky__crocus on August 31st, 2010 08:09 pm (UTC)
Hmm. Well, when I was 14 I fractured my hip and since then I had a few operations to get it working again, but none of them worked so I had a hip replacement. Now I have a somewhat working hip but most of my leg is rather buggered up! So I'm hoping I can get through enough physical therapy to fix it up a spot...

I didn't know you had issues with your leg.

I have back issues that no one seem to figure out. I tried physical therapy but it did not help..
Kiwi Crocuscranky__crocus on August 31st, 2010 08:10 pm (UTC)
Yup, I have some pretty annoying and ridiculous issues with my leg.

I'm sorry that physical therapy didn't help you! To be honest, I'm not entirely sure that it'll help me either, but I thought I would give it a shot...if I can get out of pain, I'll be euphoric.

I complletely agree that "interesting" is not a good thing to be when it's a medical person saying it.

Best of luck though!

Thank you! And in the last few weeks I've heard 'interesting', 'complex' and 'anomaly': I'm not thrilled with any, in this context! Someday, crossed fingers, I'll be normal in at least one manner: physically! Mentally, well, I don't think I'd ever want to get to normality THERE! :P

Egad! I hope not, what a bore that would be. I begin to suspect that if it weren't for the glamour, that you'd just as soon skipped the whole hip adventure.

Oh, I finally got to where I could hear your "Old People" song, I loved it. I have to tell you that your singing and playing has gotten much better since I first heard you.

You really do have a lovely voice, you might try some of Iz's arrangements.

Ah, yes, I imagine I WOULD have given the hip adventure a miss if not for the glamour and fame. (;

I'm glad you loved the 'Old People' song! I'm also glad to hear that my singing and playing have improved, given it's been probably a year and a half, smiles.

Thank you for your kind words on my voice. I'm afraid, though, that I'm not sure I understand what you mean by Iz's arrangements!

Iz was the great big Hawaiian guy that played the uke.

You should just come hit me with a giant cinder block for that one.

Dear Kiwi: DUH.

When I broke my arm the doctor came in and put up an x-ray that had a completely shattered bone and I was like "HOLY CRAP WHAT???" and he's like "the good news is, your arm doesn't look like that."

Hahahaha. I read that out loud to my mother when you first posted it. I think I would have had a heart attack if a doctor pulled that on me.
