The "What I've always wanted to tell you" Meme

I would be very grateful if you would leave a few words, but don't at all let that pressure you! :) They're just memes. You all treat me incredibly well.

I stayed up all night writing last night. Slept for three hours today. Going to head to sleep in a bit and set an alarm for tomorrow, see how that works. I'd like to clean my room - I'm feeling a bit better again, so I might as well. I'm pleased with my fic.

Watched Wizard of Oz all the way through, now. I had some small recollection of parts of it, but not much.

Spring break is divine. Revision, field courses, assignments, a module, exams and dissertation work are around the corner, but I refuse to think of them for a little while longer. I am busy appreciating this peaceful state of mind.

Meme, too. With randomly-dispersed Oz quotes.

1. Fandoms you have written/are writing/plan to write and favourite ships.
Circle of Magic, Harry Potter, Grey’s Anatomy, Firefly, Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, Sailor Moon.

Circle of Magic: Rosethorn/Lark. What’s not to love about a canon lesbian polyamorous relationship based on love, support, communication and opposites sticking. Some other Dedicates, plus Daja/women, Briar/men and women, Tris/people or books. Yasmin too. Random people.
Harry Potter: I will make this simple. Take Amelia Bones, Augusta Longbottom, Minerva McGonagall, Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank, Rolanda Hooch, Poppy Pomfrey, Irma Pince, Pomona Sprout, Rita Skeeter, Madam Rosmerta and some others. Mix and match. Watch me smile. Also, occasional Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley, Susan Bones, Ravenclaw students and some other faces.
Grey’s Anatomy: Erica/female, Cristina/female, Cristina/Teddy, Addison/females, Callie/Arizona, Arizona/females, Callie/females (occasionally). I am a huge femmeslasher, if you hadn’t noticed.
Firefly: Inara/Kaylee, Inara/females, Kaylee/Simon, Mal/Inara, Wash/Zoe, Kaylee/serenity, occasionally River/people.
Sailor Moon; Pretty much anyone. Haruka/Michiru definitely. (“But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don’t they?” Quote to be explained later.)

2. Fandoms/Pairings you are ADDICTED to at the moment...
Harry Potter, but that hasn’t changed since I was 14. It’s the one that sticks through anything.

3. Fandoms/Pairings you like, but aren't necessarily obsessed with...
Any female/female pairing from pretty much any fandom out there? I’ll generally give them a read through when I’ve got the time, which is to say ‘not often.’

4. Fandoms/Pairings you're new to, but enjoying...
I’m still new to Whedonverse fandoms but I’m trying to get into them. Glee, Wicked and some others. The last made me chuckle given that I’m presently watching Wizard of Oz. kellychambliss told me to drop everything and watch it; I was happy to oblige.

5. You can chose one non-canon pairing you love to become canon. Who do you pick?
McGonagall/Hooch. It’s been my hope since 14. I decided it was true when Albus was outed—he had been the only obstacle others feasibly used against the pairing. (Oh, the Wicked Witch laughed! I approve!)

6. You're only allowed to read fic from one fandom (any pairing) for the next three weeks. What fandom do you choose?
Harry Potter! Three weeks is nothing. All other fandoms are fleeting compared to Harry Potter. (Oh, look, colour! I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore. We must be on the other side of the rainbow, off into the realm of my mind!)

7.You're allowed to refer to your favorite ship only by a shipper name. What ship is your favorite and what would you name them?
McGonagall/Hooch will always be McHooch and Kittyhawk to me. McHooch because it sounds fun, Kittyhawk because it sums them up so very well. (“Todo, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the rainbow!” Wow. I was pretty close with that prediction. Oh,a giant bubble! I can recognise that one. Eve told me she reminds me of a character that wears a bracelet but who turns into a rainbow and moves about in a bubble when the bracelet comes off—some character from something.)

8. Two of your fandoms are going to collide in a spectacular crossover. Which fandoms would you like to see crossed?
Firefly and Harry Potter. Scifi airpirates and witches? I think yes. (Look, the munchkins are out! Why, yes, I have been called a munchkin many times in my life... Something about a Lollypop Guild or something. Those voices would be so fun to sing!)

9. You have to choose between reading bad porn about your fandom obsession of the moment, or no fic at all. What do you pick?
Bad porn, plox and tankies! :P As my old English teacher used to say, reading something is better than reading nothing at all—can find something good about anything, even if the only ‘good’ is that it’s made up of words (and not numbers!). I don’t think he ever knew his wisdom would be spread to Harry Potter porn... Although he did suggest to me many books with odd themes and occasional instances of steam, so I’m sure he wouldn’t be entirely shocked.

10. You're asked to pick a theme song for one character/ship. What song do you pick, and for whom?
I think of these all the time when I’m listening to my iPod, but then always forget. (I now recall that I was told I was in both the Lullaby League and the Lollypop Guild – perchance because I danced both ballet and tap with jazz? And was a girly tomboy? :P Ah, the pull of butch-femme. OH IT’S THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST! Why does it seem there was more emphasis on ‘slippers’ than was needed? Glinda’s looks are very...sultry. I swear I see flirtation! I think Glinda’s a sucker for a good cackle and some melodramatic red smoke.)

11. It's 2 in the morning and you should be doing math homework. What kind of fic do you read instead?
Ack, I thought I had escaped maths homework! But then, I’ve got stats...shudders. Oh, poot, I could go through years of archives to know that come 2 am maths homework, I’ll be reading Kittyhawk smut. It was the case during statistics and cat genetics; it’ll undoubtedly be the case with my dissertation statistics next year. (“My! People come and go so quickly here!” I agree!)

12. The ship that makes you go "Awww" is...
Luna Lovegood/Ginny Weasley. Don’t ask me. It doesn’t make sense to me either.

13. The ship that makes you want to yell, "Just have sex already, you morons!" is..
G(a)linda/Elphaba: previously just Wicked, now Wizard of Oz as well.

14. The ship you're probably going to hell for shipping is...
I am trying to think of one. I’m sure there is one, but I can’t recall it at present. (I feel like the Tinman when I walk, sometimes.)

15. The character you alternatively love to death and want to beat some sense into is...
My fandom brain has truly left me. I think Hermione, most of the time. For the cleverest witch of her age, she can be awfully dim-witted.

16. The character you're almost embarrassed to admit you like is...
I occasionally like Dumbledore. I love a fascinating brain. I don’t hate Molly Weasley—I’m fairly neutral. (I keep thinking that the Lion is singing about Coming Out. Bad Kiwi, making everyone gay. Although, we are over the rainbow...where else are the gay people supposed to go?)

17. Your very first fandom/ship was...
(The Wicked Witch has a lovely body! Oh, no, she’s used poppies as a weapon...Pomona would not be pleased with her, not at all.) I’m trying to think of my first. I think my first real fandom, when I was old enough to know it for a fandom, was Tamora Pierce. I was more fascinated with characters than ships. I used to love Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman or something of the sort. I had many crushes on many ladies. :P (Oh, Glinda used snow! She’s my kind of lady! I love you Glinda!)

18. The fandom you could read any kind of fic in is...
Harry Potter, probably – it’s the only one in which I can stomach pure-up fluff, which is often written. I tire of fluff elsewhere.

19. The fandom you would totally write an anonymous Mary Sue fic in is...
Whoever, in her right mind, would want to write an anonymous Mary Sue fic?

20. The show you would bring back from cancellation..
Firefly. Come on, this is me we’re talking about. (They made it to Emerald City! I want a horse of a different colour—the purple is fantastic. Oh, red! Yellow! What a rainbowtastic horse. :D)

I think everyone in Oz is at least bisexual. The Wicked Witch’s broom-bum has great font. Awr, the Lion just wants to be the King of the forest. He may be a bit stuffed for King, but I imagine he’d cover Queen pretty well with that perm and bow...

The alliteration and terminology of this film is fantastic.

“These things must be done delicately.” Now there’s a line I’ve heard from a number of teachers! “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!” Certainly have never heard THAT before. :P Oh, smoke and mirrors.
Current Mood: enthralledEnthralled.

Great meme! And I knew you'd like Oz. It's just too packed with fun lines and quirkiness not to be something you'd enjoy. (And look how many of the lines you already knew!)

I had such a crush on Glinda when I was a kid (and then I extended it to the actress who plays her, Billie Burke). Burke was almost 55 years old when she made this film, which I used to think was pretty old. But with every year that passes, it seems younger and younger to me.

I'm so with you on McHooch. You're right about there being no obstacle to them, now that we know JKR isn't going to pop up and say that McG is married to Dumbles. I also love your definition of your favorite HP pairings. Mix-n-match old-lady ships: what could be better?

but I imagine he’d cover Queen pretty well with that perm and bow...

Hahaha! Yes, he's in drag for sure.

I read once that they got the Horse of a Different Color to be different colors by putting powdered Jello on him, but they had to keep re-doing it because the horse kept licking off all the powder he could reach. Not sure if this is true or just a legend, but it's a fun story.

"These things must be done. . .delicately" is one of the most wonderfully-shivery lines I know.

I'm not familiar with "Firefly," though.

And Ginny/Luna. . .you're right; they are sweet, in what can often be a good way.

I certainly loved the quirkiness! What a fun film. (: That horse story made me laugh. I wonder if it's true! Sounds very horse-like to me.

Dumbles. Oh, laughter, isn't that the best.

Ah. Firefly is a sci-fi show about, well, sort of space pirates but not quite. I love it. Then, I love Joss Whedon, sooo...

Ginny/Luna are sweet, and often good, but can give me a tooth-ache in my fic-tooth.

you... you, wait. wait.... clarify. you'd never seen The Wizard of Oz prior to watching it tonight: yes, no?
Kiwi Crocuscranky__crocus on April 4th, 2010 08:51 pm (UTC)
I had never watched it in entirety while old enough to actually remember it now. But I've seen it now, fully, so yay!

Pretty sure you already know most of my secrets, but the lion? Yeah, Queen of the Jungle.

Not sure about Burt Lahr...

Among other Broadway roles, Lahr played Queen Victoria in a sketch from the musical Two on the Aisle.
