Rainbow || Rainbow northern lights.

(no subject)

This is going to be a short-ish rollercoaster!post.

1) Why I am now concerned about how I am lazy: [Silly]

I need to look into one of those treadmill-desks...

2) Why I am ashamed of my state: [Not at all silly; very sad; warning for what most would consider shock torture]

This "school" is in my state. It's old news now, I'm sure, but I stumbled across it when I saw that Dan Savage (ugh) has created a Helen Keller musical that mocks the disabled, especially the Deafblind, before the play even starts (ugh ugh ugh). A well-spoken, young, disabled lesbian wrote him a 'letter' of sorts online and responded to his comment that (paraphrased) 'the idea of someone putting a shock-collar on the disabled is completely cooky [unlike gay teen suicide]' with links to how that is false.

There's also an article with the actual table-shocking of one young man, but it made me cry and I don't want to post it.

I just wanted to go "oh my gods why". And be sad and angry that such a thing can exist.

3) I'm trying to get myself into following current events/the news, and this is why it's scary. Plus, politics. Plus, global warming (in combination with politics). Plus, reproductive rights (and how politics are trying to fuck with everything). Plus, the polarised state of my country (especially in regards to politics) and how my country is really less of a country and more a combination of regions that should probably not be united under one flag (something I need to read up on because it is apparently a common idea). Also, did I mention politics?

Ugh my country. Ugh my state. I'm not sure I want to be a somewhat-intelligent person living in America, trying to stay aware (and, incidentally, sane). The space under my rock is so comfortable...can't I just be Patrick from Spongebob?

(No, I can't.)

I guess it's good that I'm a dual citizen, and can fuck off to England if times get dire... (Given my father is still a citizen and my brother is also a dual citizen, it is something we joke about rather a lot.)
