My little brother (I feel the need to stress the little as he is over six feet tall and I am under five) recently found a site of Randomly Awesome Words.

I discovered this when he posted to Facebook

This word doesn't apply to me in any way, but I still like it.

Supererogation - |ˌso͞opərˌerəˈgāSHən|

Noun

the performance of more work than duty requires

I was amused to see him admit that the word did not apply to him; there is one sibling in the Crocus Family to whom the word applies more. There are certainly a number of other (positive) words on the list that do apply to him!

I was more surprised when he wrote on my Facebook wall with one he thought fit me:

You are very capable at:

Badinage |ˌbadnˈäZH|

Noun

humorous or witty conversation.

I love my little Dweeb. I didn't think that's the sort of thing he'd notice! (Not that I tend to think I do have any skill with badinage, but either way I wouldn't have expected him to notice such a thing in his sister, even if we do all muck about and tease each other when he and his friends are about.) He's going through the list by using one word a day, anyway, so I'm a proud big sis! He otherwise hasn't shown much interest in the written word or vocabulary--so his English teachers would certainly say--and this extracurricular activity of his is pretty neat!

I also get to see him on the 15th. :D Uncle Malcolm is coming on the 17th. The holidays really are around the corner! As [dreamwidth.org profile] dueltastic says, my Livejournal is now wearing its winter coat. (;

Pretty and very romantic journal-style indeed!!!

And, well, if you say so, I believe you - about the words..... they certainly do not appear in my school-dictionary *gg*.

Thanks, Minnie! ♥ I like keeping it simple with the one header picture, the long white rectangle for the entries, and the solid background; but I like to mix it up beyond that! This year I even added the two winter pictures to my introductory lyric post. :D *Winter fangirl.*

Haha! Well, thankfully I recognised a few of the words right off (especially pinnate--which, funnily enough, I had to learn in school for botany!) I might have been a bit suspicious. But the ones I looked at checked out on Google, so I trust it. (;

I particularly liked "footle" and think I may have to start saying "I footled about [on the Internet]" instead of "I faffed about"! Although I certainly do both...

How cool! I am jealous of the relationship you have with your bro.
