Got home last night. On the way back I was told there was no food in the house so I ended up with some Burger King. Da turned the debate on as Romney was "answering" a question and I said, "Awwr, Da, I'm trying to eat!" (But of course I was morbidly curious.)

Anyway, it led me to think that I surely wasn't Over the Rainbow any more, but back in Kansas... :B

Now I've slept for 12 hours (10.30 to 10.25, holy smokes) and have awoken to my beautiful, colourful North again, so I'm no longer confused by the lack of deciduous.

I also found this link, which is an interesting look at the details of the Romney-Ryan tax plan. It's really very funny, clever, and academic. (Click the link for a laugh.)

Back to real life with me. I spent my hours in the airport yesterday emailing myself job listings from different job sites. Thought I'd just jump right in.

Have an icon for the job-search ;-), and *yeah* to beautiful, colourful northern fall!
If the debate would not have aired in the middle of the night here in Europe, I would have been morbidly curious as well ;-)

*Grins.* Thanks for the head-pat.

It really is nice to look out my bedroom window and see red, yellow, green, orange... *Sighs happily.*

Now I'm watching the "binders full of women" video for Romney. Oh goodness, politics. Goodness gracious.

Good luck with the job hunt! Anything in particular caught your attention?
Kiwi Crocuscranky__crocus on October 17th, 2012 04:00 pm (UTC)
A few things. I threw myself a few job-like links (mostly part-time office stuff), some things between job and career (after school programme with kids, stuff like that) and then some that are more career-focused (like "Teach for AmeriCorps" or something, about training good science teachers with the promise to teach for schools in need for at least two years).

I'm in a household of part-time workers and we're mostly into having fun and putting ourselves in the line of great stories for future nieces/nephews while still making enough to pay rent and buy food, which seems normal enough 20-something behaviour, and so as foolish as it may sound I'm more interested in part-time "go to work, come back home" type work at the moment.

I know that if I ended up going more of the career route right now, I'd get sucked in immediately. Even just when I was working at a nature camp I ended up spending more time than any other counsellor on lesson plans, activities, write-ups, awards, and whatever else. I'm not quite ready to throw myself that hard into a job; I'm trying to avoid anything that will send me home with lots of "homework" for now!

I think it sounds like a great plan. To see what's out there, experiment and still have time to enjoy life cuz you're young! And you are right, once you start a full time adult job, you do get sucked in.

That was the feeling I was getting as I was going through the links. There was quite a bit of stuff that seemed to fit my background well enough and yet each was different and exciting; I wanted to experiment a bit. I think that's why I'll keep up with diverse volunteering if I can, too--it's great for new and interesting experiences, I get to network, I know I'm really helping out and working in a way that I like, and it's often quite fun!

I have little doubt that when that nagging voice enters my head telling me to settle down with a career, I'll be capable, skilled, and dedicated. I'm just working to make sure I feel as though I've done enough, experimented enough, before I get to that point and start closing doors. (Not that I don't believe in career changes! I definitely do. (: )

Yes, it is def a good idea, to gather experience so you know more about yourself and feel more prepared.

I sort of feel I prob should have done more of that when I had the chance.. so I salute your plan!

Awwr, thank you! And best of luck as you continue looking through your career options. ♥

Couldn't resist, heh heh. It's producing some good memes, anyway.

Glad you enjoyed the link!

Didn't watch the debate, but I could hardly avoid the fallout today. The ad link was hilarious and sadly true. These are my two favorite pics from the "binder" fallout:

Ahahaha I've seen and enjoyed those two. I even quoted the second one at the dinner table last night. :P
