I could pretend that I didn't just get distracted by a nude-in-a-bath Amanda Fucking Palmer (with The Flaming Lips) music video, but then I would be lying. (I could also not post about it, but then how would I have a reputation for posting bizarre things about TMI, nudity, and body hair?)

The Flaming Lips and Amanda Palmer - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face from Delo Creative on Vimeo.

Seeing body hair, especially on a famous American woman, makes me happyyyyy. I, uh, didn't actually pay that much attention to the song. AFP songs tend to grow on me rather than be immediately my favourites, and at that not all of them; I'll see if this one grows on me.

Also I have pit hair like AFP and that made me smile. (I mean, if people can get happy over having head-hair like celebrities, shouldn't we be able to do the same over other hair? Don't care, going to anyway. :D Not as though I get the chance to do so very often!)

Now we've seen AFP's Map of Tasmania again. (And if you haven't seen that music video in a while, here's a copy :

(For the record, I don't judge what people do in their drawers. I tend to judge when others don't offer me the same, which is often not the case currently.)

And now, since I frequently put that song on for dancing around, I shall put it on for some dance-cleaning.

Gotta say, I kind of love Map of Tasmania -- both the song and the video!

And points to Amanda Palmer for being actually naked in the "hey look, I'm naked!" video... body hair and pale skin and boobs moving around like boobs do and everything. Neat.

I remember Alanis Morrissette doing a video "naked" ~10 years ago, but actually she was wearing pasties over her nipples and (shaved) vulva and the lighting was all stylized (I think...) and mostly it was shot so she might as well have been wearing, like, a bathing suit at least. I think there's a lot of that in media -- the gimmick of, "NAKED CHICK!" without the honesty of actually exposed, uncorrected bodies that would demonstrate no one looks like a human Barbie when they take their clothes off.

I don't even "kind of" love Map of Tasmania--I full out love it. :B Some year at Rowe I want to run a series of workshops in which we all make our own Map of Tasmania's (like the ones in the video) and perhaps even make a video of our own. Or do a catwalk of them for an event; that'd be awesome.

Oh, yes, all the points to Amanda for that--and I never expected anything less from her. She always does stuff like that honestly, and she's all about proving/reminding that bodies are not Barbie bodies really. She loses some points sometimes for how she comes off with things like fat positivity and stuff, but when it comes down to being real, she definitely goes for it.

I think I remember that Alanis Morissette video too. And yeah, there's a huge media gimmick for "naked chicks" that have all been altered and exposed only in certain, less authentic, ways (those being the lighting/photoshopping/whatever else).

I tend to dig Amanda for not hiding who she is--even when who she is can be flawed and need educating. She does tend to get there (to the educated place), too; sometimes it just takes her a while.

Sometimes I feel funny about for the most part being more a fan of her than her actual music, but I figure I got enough "zomgs not alone" feels out of her Dresden Dong lyrics when I was a sad ickle teenager that it all fits anyway.

Those are some awesome videos. The second one - love.

I don't care what other people do in terms of hair presence/removal. It would be judgey for me to judge either way since I shave when I want. I don't shave when I don't want. The end. Right now I'm hairy. I might decide I'm tired of hairy in a few days. I seriously hate the people who want to force my sister to shave to fit into their stepford child idea of what people should look like.

I feel like I ran off on a tangent here. Yay for awesome videos.

I wish I still had my hair icon, but alas.
