When work needs doing, there are

1. Make a list of 5 things that you can see without getting up.
A unicorn, a plate I need to take downstairs (mmm sandwich), my very American University of Rhode Island baseball cap that remind me of home, my rainbow gel pens (for To Do Listing), my Hello Kitty cup (originally a chocolate spread container from Zahara de los Atunes, Spain) and a Ginkgo biloba candle.

2. How do you style your hair?
With either great amusement or bored yielding. Chignon, informal buns, plaits, hairsticks, clips, combinations, down and curly (when I’m patient) or for my least patient, most yielding times…pony tail. Current hairstyle. I should probably do something with the tail – plait or the like – to keep it in organised curls, but I may be too lazy.

3. What are you wearing now?
Jammies: Scrabble PJ bottoms (‘sleep’ crossing ‘dream’, ‘nap’, ‘doze’ etc.); ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ boxers over that; ‘Circle of Friends Coffeehouse’ t-shirt with lots of anthropomorphic animals playing instruments (for the coffeehouse that happens often at my UU congregation).

4. What's your occupation?
Procrastinating student. I’m getting the boot in three months.

5. Are you happy with your occupation from the last question? If not, what would you rather be doing?
No, not particularly. Setting up my revision has reminded me how much I didn’t really like my courses this year and how utterly unexcited and frightened I am of revising it all for my 13.5 hours of exams. I would rather be getting on with the rest of my life.

6. What do you hear right now?
The ‘swish’ of my hair as I’m playing with it. (Never give a cat-like person long hair, it’s just silly.)

7. Who was the last person you hugged?
I almost put ‘partner’ because nearly everyone else has, and then I realised…erm, I don’t have a partner. Probably Claire before she left for her boycreature’s house for the weekend. I don’t have enough hugging in my life at present.

8. If you're filling out this meme, it probably means you're procrastinating right now. What should you be doing instead?
Opening up my revision folder and reminding myself to breathe. That or writing lesbian smut.

9. What did you do today?
Woke up singing a song (question mark), realised I had to use the loo, further realised I wasn’t wearing clothes, deliberated between dressing robe (likely to get properly dressed later) or jammies (likely to stay in them throughout the day), threw on jammies, lamented how much loo roll 6 boys can get through, shook my fist and grumbled at Livejournal, spent too much time on Facebook, finally read tetleythesecond’s Teh Queer post and am now here in this Word document. It hasn’t been a very productive day thus far—but I did wake up before 2, which is an accomplishment. It’s nearly time for porridge with honey and fruit – yay! :D

10. What are you doing this weekend?
It’s Sunday now, so most of my weekend is through – not that it matters, since I’m on break and any day could be a weekend. I started revising, checked old exam papers, panicked, realised I’m more worried about some surprising exams and less worried about other surprising exams, wrote some Kittyhawk/Willa G-P, watched Battlestar Galactica, wrote a 1000-word Rosethorn/Lark tidbit story and started some R/L smut. Today is more revision, writing and catching up on various things…as well as Nurse Jackie. Mmm Doctor O’Hara mmmm.

11. Dog person or cat person?
*Scoffs.* What is this or nonsense? Or, indeed, the speciesism? I am an animal-and-plant person. (Don’t tell me plant-love isn’t real love, because I’ve hugged some trees more often than I hugged my old cat.)

12. If you came across $2,000 (or other currency) would you keep it or turn it in?
Hypothetical questions are often answered with hypothetical answers… I may go to pick it up, and a 16-ton weight could fall onto my head. I could emerge in the next scene as a fluffy kiwibird with a bandaged leg and Xs for eyes. I might mutter a pitiful ‘kweeeeeh’ that drifts off into the sky and could be rescued by Wonder Woman, who might cradle me against her bust as she flies away. The town may pay her $2,000 for saving both a human and an endangered species; she could very well give the money to me (with a wink) and I would certainly put it toward university. The end.

13. What was the last thing that you bought?
A chicken tikka baguette and a hot chocolate. Or, no, I suppose the £1.25-ticket from Reading Centre to Earley Station.

14. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Right this moment? Home to hug my parents and pup and steal them away for a bit of an adventure if they’d like, then drive to Providence so I could hug Cassia for her beautiful message yesterday that made me feel so warm and accepted and home. Then an adventure to somewhere exciting like Roller Derby or Providence Place for a film and ice cream. Perhaps someday my idea will be more grandiose, but for now I’m just looking for the comforts of home and hearth.

15. If you have pets, what are they, what are their names, and how did they get their names?
I have a brother. He’s 19 and can be a bit of a raving idiot for all that he’s a genius. I have called him Monkey Boy, Whitey-Tighty Boy, Boxer Boy and Robe Boy. He is now Dweeb; it became more final than I had originally intended it.

I also have a pug. He legitimately is a raving idiot (and often quite smelly), but he’s the most loveable little guy around and I adore him. I once had a teacher afraid of dogs (bitten by one quite badly, I believe) but she wasn’t afraid of him – she sat around with him the whole time she was at my house.

16. What's on the nightstand/table beside your bed right now?
I actually don’t have a nightstand. I’m not a real growned-up, you see. I do have a rainbow trunk at the foot of my bed, though – it’s got my Essential Reproduction book and revision notes, my journal, some tape, some things to tape into my journal, my laptop, my phone and a biscuit tin.

17. What are your favourite colours? Do your favourite colours change, or have they remained consistent throughout your life?
My favourite colour used to be “poipul” (purple). When I was in 1st grade I had my father paint a rainbow arching out of a golden pot above my door. In elementary school I felt pressured to say my favourite colour was blue. In junior high I fully embraced Rainbow as my favourite colour, though if pressed I would admit that Green was high up on my list. I do tend to like earth/autumn colours and black quite a lot.

18. What is one thing about you most people on your flist don't know?
Probably how ridiculous my headspace can really get – though I have the feeling some are beginning to twig it. I suppose for something real: I’ve never finished a video/computer game entirely, or at least not since before I can remember. (Dweeb always beats them before me, even if the game was my game. *Grumbles*Drakengard*grumbles*. Oh! And I’m not really clever at all, I’ve just got a witty Babel Fish in my ear.

19. What are you looking forward to the most?
May 21st, the day after my exams finish. June – a month for doing Not Much and cherishing that. July – graduation and stepping out from under my Student Hat for the foreseeable future; this little event called DiaCon Alley that I’m not sure any of you have heard about (a silly gathering of silly people, you know the sort…).

20. Did you replace many questions?
I changed some spelling.

to be done.

"That is truer than true."

Tree hugging (that may be a derogatory term, according to google, but I don't mean it as such), I like that!

Hello, I've just wandered into your journal, as one does... :P

Awwr, yay Dr. Seuss! (: I love his quotes.

I don't ever take tree-hugging as a derogatory term. (; When I'm joking about what degree I'm getting from university (I graduate with a BSc in Applied Ecology & Conservation in July), I say I'm getting a degree in, "Tree-hugging and field-frolicking".

You're welcome to my journal! :D Shall we be LJ friends? It's always nice to find another femslashing Potterhead. :D
Meganluna_shovegood on April 10th, 2011 02:11 pm (UTC)
Um, okay. I've friended you so that I don't spend too long thinking about it, 'cause the thought (of friending in general) scares me a bit. Uh, I should warn you that my journal is pretty lame, mostly rl and boring. *shuffles*

Lol, that's cool! Good luck with graduating!

My school used to take us out in our RS lessons to show our affections to trees. Until our headmaster banned it. (But, we still sneak out sometimes!)

Nice to find you, too! Yay for Potterheads.

I'm sorry to hear the thought of friending someone gives you a fright! If you'd let me know I would have gladly initiated the friending. (: I'm happy to be your LJ friend!

And fret not, for my journal can also be frightfully boring. Mostly RL here too. And with exams around the corner, my mind/emotions tend to be in shambles a lot! So I won't hold it against you for sifting through all that stuff, haha.

Headmaster banning affection for trees! There's a headmaster I'd like to exchange a few heated words with!
Meganluna_shovegood on April 10th, 2011 08:32 pm (UTC)
Oh, it's just the friending in general. So, it doesn't make a difference whether I initiate it or not.

I quite like your journal, though I've only lurked before. :D

I know. *Shakes head* He's awfully boring; he won't go to any of the dance performances at my school because he deems them 'inappropriate'. Well, he went to one a while back and then left in the interval and refused to return. :/

My favourite colour used to be “poipul” (purple). Of course it is, my dear. It's not as if you're a pink-loving girl.

And I admire your dedication to doing stylish things with your hair!

...pink? Whyever would you say...?

Hah hah, in theory. But it's up to the statistics, really, isn't it? Ratio of ponytail : non-ponytail days... :Þ

(But I've got it in a nice bun with a chopstick hair stick now, so there's that. :D )

Descriptions of what long-haired people do with their hair often make me quite envious ♥_♥ (in spite of the sneaking suspicion that, based on observing long-haired Crocky, the reality of those fabulous hairstyles usually boils down to "disordered ponytail" nine times out of ten).

I chuckled heartily at your description of your pet-brother. I used to see mine as that, but at some point I decided that he could clean out his own nest. Oh, how wrong I was.

Rainbow is an awesome favourite colour! I love to wear rainbow with my black. <3
