Can someone please make "I'm sorry, I'm writing stories for the old lady smut brigade" a feasible excuse to turn down Hot Lesbian and Cute Hippie Chick for a three-way drink-and-dance date?

Because if someone could, my life would be so much easier.

And my legs would hurt less. And I'd be way less tired.

Now back to finishing this story. Game on!

Huh. Am I out drinking with hot lesbians? No, I am not. I am steadfastly and honorably writing my own fic, and you can be, too.

(Of course, I am a million years older and stodgier than you, and my own hot lesbian chick would not like it if I were out with hot hippies and cute femmy whatevers [unless they were her]. So don't go by me.)

I honestly rejected her once. Or twice. I can't recall. I did try! There's nothing worse for keeping one's time one's own than a charming lesbian set on a night out.

I didn't feel too too bad, since I had all but one section of my fic pretty much done; I spent all of Wednesday working on it and all of Friday-Tuesday working. My friend/university-life-coach told me I was permitted to go out.

I also hadn't been on a date since before last New Year's, I think; I thought I might as well go on one before the year turned again. Plus both Hot Lesbian and Cute Hippie Chick approved of the McGonagall hat above my wardrobe and agreed with my statement that "McGonagall is a hardcore BAMF". [Bad arse mother f...er.]

(Oh, hush now, you are not a million years older and stodgier than I! I haven't had my own hot lesbian chick since I was 17, and that never longer than a month. :B It was nice to remember that 'lesbian' is not just a label: stepping back into the lifestyle was lovely!)

...sometimes, when a story is this close to done, I just wish it would finish itself off.

[Your comment cracked me up.]

Just think of all the lavender and ginger flavoured shortbread you'll have for your dedication to fic (which is above and beyond the call of duty).

Uh... no! Without knowing the whole story, I still have to pop in and say that I'm positive you made the right choice. And I say that, even as someone who writes tons and doesn't dance at all.

I did make the right choice. Buuuut now I'm sore! My leg is RAGING at me, haha. And Hot Lesbian keeps asking me out but I'm like, "Uhh...sorry, I can pretty much only go out once a week, and now it's the last week of term and I'm ill so I really need to be headdesking the grindstone constantly, sorry!" I'm not even sure I'll get to go on a coffee date with Cute Hippie Chick this week if my work doesn't start sorting itself out faster!

D'awr. Do you like do dance?

Boo to grindstones, raging legs and illness getting in the way of nice things -- but yay for charming ladies asking in the first place!

Dance? I generally don't, because I lack (1)any sense of rhythm, (2)a lot of coordination, and (3)the confidence to do something I'm not very good at. On the relatively rare occasions I find myself wasted, I probably try, but I prefer not to count that.

As you seem to have discerned, no such excuse exists.

To quote a great man, (Chef),

"There is a time and a place for everything. It's called 'college'. "

Also, if you don't do stuff like that sometimes, you can kill you with your brain.

Kill me with my brain. Yes, I do seem to be precariously close to that precipice nearly every moment of every day lately--I think it's the proximity to the last day of term that's fraying me to no end.

Ah, Chef. I learned so much from you in my youth. I'm glad I've made you proud at least once this year.
